Open Days 2010

Woking Palace will be open to the public on the following occasions during 2010. There is no entry fee, although donations are welcome.

How to get there


11th and 12th September

Tudor Hawkers

Woking Palace will be open between 10 am and 5pm, as part of the national Heritage Open Days initiative. The last tour leaves at 4pm.

Displays of birds of prey will be provided by Raphael Falconry, on both days. The Hawk Mews will be open all day (except during displays) for visitors to view the birds and chat to the falconers. There will also be talks and displays which will each last 30 minutes on both days. Timetable:

  • 11 am: talk on falconry in Tudor times
  • 1 pm: flying display, "Hawking for the Table"
  • 3 pm: flying display, "A King's Sport"

Volunteer guides and stewards from the Friends of Woking Palace will be available to provide information throughout the weekend.We will be providing guided tours throughout the day, giving visitors an insight into the past of the palace as well as the archaeological work that continues to take place at the site.

Displays on the history of the site and life in Medieval/Tudor times will also be on view.

Guidebooks, CDs and postcards, along with a number of other publications will be on sale in the on-site pavilion.


A guided walk to Woking Palace via the historic areas of Old Woking will depart at 2pm on both days, from St Peter's Church, which is open to visitors. To book a place, please call Phillip Arnold on 01483 825523.
