Five walks that feature the Palace

The Friends have designed five walks that take in Woking Palace. Four start in Old Woking and the other from Woking Station. All are covered by the map OS 1/25000 145 Guildford.

Walk 1 A Short walk to the Tudor Palace

A circular walk to the ruins of the Tudor Mansion in the meadows to the east of Old Woking, returning through the ancient deer parkland of the Hoe Bridge Golf Course

Distance 5km (3 miles). Time: Approximately 1.5 hours.

Walk 2 The Palace and the Priory

A circular walk to Woking Palace, a Tudor Mansion in the meadows to the east of Old Woking, then past the ruins of Newark Priory returning along the River Wey.

Distance: About 6.5km (4 miles) + extension of 3km (2 miles). Time: Approximately 2 hours + 1 hour.

Walk 3 The Palace and the Park Pale

A circular walk to Woking Palace, a Tudor Mansion in the meadows to the east of Old Woking, then around the Park Pale returning along ‘The Sheep Walk.’

Distance: About 7.5km (5 miles). Time: Approximately 2.5 hours.

Walk 4 The Tudor Palace and the Surrounding Countryside

A circular walk to the ruins of the Tudor Mansion in the meadows to the east of Old Woking, then to Pyrford, and back down the River Wey Navigation via Walsham Lock or via Ockham Mill to Ripley and then to Old Woking through Broad Mead.

Distance: About 9km (5.5 miles) Alternative 10km (6 miles). Time: Approximately 2.5/3 hours.

A walk to the ruins of the Tudor Mansion of Woking Palace in the meadows to the east of Old Woking, alongside the River Hoe.

Distance: About 6.5km (4 miles) Time: Approximately 2 hours.
